Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and browser storage EdgeNFC uses, and the one third-party script we load. We keep the footprint small: the app is a first-party web app and uses browser local storage rather than tracking cookies. Non-essential categories default off and load nothing until you opt in — the analytics script in section 3 is not requested at all until you turn Performance on.
1. Categories
| Category | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Always on (no toggle) | Sign-in session, security/anti-CSRF, load balancing, and your consent record. Required to deliver the Service — never blocked. |
| Performance / analytics | Off | Aggregate usage and scan-analytics UI telemetry, and Ahrefs Web Analytics on our public marketing pages (section 3). Loads only after you opt in. |
| Functional | Off | Remembered UI preferences and settings. Loads only after you opt in. |
2. What we store today
The customer web app stores the following items in your browser's local storage — all in the strictly necessary category. We do not set third-party or advertising cookies.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
edgenfc_token | localStorage | Keeps you signed in (session bearer token) | Until sign-out or cleared; the token itself expires after 7 days |
edgenfc_email | localStorage | Shows which account you are signed in as | Until sign-out or cleared |
| Consent record | localStorage | Remembers your cookie choices so we don't re-prompt (a copy is also logged server-side as proof) | Until you change your choices or a new policy version re-prompts |
Signing out (or clearing site data) removes the local-storage items above. Performance and functional storage is added only if and when you opt in to those categories.
3. Performance / analytics — off unless you opt in
If you turn on the Performance category, our public marketing pages load
one third-party script: Ahrefs Web Analytics, from
analytics.ahrefs.com. It tells us which pages people read and where they arrived
from, so we can improve the site. It is not loaded on the signed-in app, on
these legal pages, on the documentation, or on the tag-verification page you reach by tapping
a tag.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
Ahrefs Web Analytics (analytics.ahrefs.com) |
Third-party script — performance | Aggregate marketing-site measurement: page views, referrer, approximate location and device/browser type. Ahrefs states the product is cookie-free and collects no personal data; your IP address and the page address still reach Ahrefs in order to serve the request, which is why we ask first | Nothing is stored in your browser — no cookie and no local-storage item. The script is requested on each page view while the category is on, and not at all while it is off |
Ahrefs is a sub-processor for this purpose; see the Privacy Policy for who they are, where they are, and the transfer safeguards that apply.
4. How to change your consent
Non-essential categories are opt-in, and withdrawing consent is as easy as granting it. Use the "Cookie settings" link (available in the site footer / cookie banner) to change or withdraw your choices at any time. Your consent is versioned: when this policy changes materially, we re-prompt so your choices stay current. You can also clear your browser's local storage for this site to remove all first-party storage.
What withdrawal does, precisely. Turning Performance off
takes effect immediately: we remove the analytics script from the page and stop requesting
it, so no page you open afterwards loads it. We want to be straight about the limit — a
third-party script that has already run in the tab you are looking at cannot be un-run by us;
the browser has no way to undo that. Reloading the page removes it completely. Before you opt
in, and after you clear your choices, nothing is requested from
analytics.ahrefs.com at all.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data and your rights.
